Mel Casiño - WordPress Developer and Web Designer

Howdy, I’m Mel – WordPress Developer and Web Designer

My career has been a diverse experience for more than a decade now. I have worked in the IT field in both private and government offices, supporting company networks, IT systems, and infrastructure while also providing tech and digital services on the side. For several years of doing side jobs, the impact of the work I do for companies and organizations from different parts of the world has left me so fulfilled that it has become my full-time job. Despite the different nature of my experiences, they all revolved around something that I really enjoy, and that is technology.

I’ve always been fascinated by technology and its ability to benefit people, which is why I enjoy what I do—designing and developing WordPress websites that add value to businesses and their customers. I find it incredibly satisfying to create digital products that achieve business goals and ultimately provide a positive impact on end users.

My goal is to deliver high-quality websites to any business and company I collaborate with. A website that is built with established technologies and robust applications to support your business objectives while providing a satisfying user experience to your clients. The type of website that will last and grow with your business.

How I design and develop modern WordPress websites

I create websites that are tailored to your specific needs. Carefully crafted to achieve business objectives while delivering value to end users. Built with optimal performance in mind, utilizing only the best tools and technologies. Making sure that your website will last and grow with your business.

Built for your specific needs

Every business is unique, and so are your needs. I create websites that meet your needs. Designed and customized to achieve your specific goals. No generic templates and not bloated with features you don’t even need.

Carefully crafted to enhance user experience

Thoughtfully designed and curated to foster a delightful and smooth user experience. Every color, font, layout, images and illustrations will influence the user’s decision making, so every aspect is carefully created.

Easy to manage, edit and update

WordPress is a powerful platform, especially as a content management system. By utilizing its modern features, I make it easy for you to edit and update your website, even if you’re not a developer or designer.

Fluid and intrinsic design approach

I use the intrinsic design approach to design and build websites. Creating interfaces that are naturally fluid and responsive to various screen sizes using only a few lines of modern CSS. This makes the site lighter and load faster.

Built for optimal performance

Performance is a top priority when I build a website. I make sure that I adhere in all best practices for WordPress, coding, accessibility, and SEO. Ensuring that your website loads faster and performs better than your competitors.

Minimal plugins & only the trusted ones

A website with dozens of plugins is a nightmare to manage, especially when it comes to compatibility and security. I use industry-standard plugins whenever they make sense and build your custom features from scratch.

Built to last and grow with your business

The web is changing faster than ever, but that doesn’t mean you need a new website every few years. Your website will be built using WordPress, a platform that will certainly last and a foundation that will adapt to your future needs.

Some of my works

A glimpse into what we can accomplish together. Websites that were thoughtfully built to fit each company’s brand and goals while adhering to best practices for web design and WordPress development.

My work process

From the initial meeting to the product launch, my streamlined workflow is designed to allow me to truly grasp my clients’ needs and provide the best possible solution in a timely manner.

Initial Meeting

Trust is important when working on a project together. In our first meeting, we’ll get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit.

  • I will learn about your business and your customers
  • We’ll talk about your goals and requirements
  • Ask questions from each other & see if we are a good fit
  • and define our next step

Discovery

In this phase, we will work together and go through the project’s details and specifics. This way, we’ll be able to identify the functionality, scope, structure, and other requirements that will ensure the project’s success.

  • I’ll learn about your business, customers, and goals in a more detailed way
  • Define the functionalities, scope, structures, and other requirements needed

Ideation and Design

Following the detailed discovery phase, I conduct extensive research, generate concepts, and design a visual depiction of the website that will reflect your brand, give a consistent user experience, and ultimately fulfill your objectives.

  • I’ll create sitemaps, page structure, wireframes, and mockups
  • Establish typography, color palette, and imagery
  • Refine the designs until everything gets approved.

Development

After the designs are finalized, I’ll begin creating the website with WordPress and other relevant technologies and tools. During this phase, your website will also be put through to a number of quality checks.

  • I’ll create sitemaps, page structure, wireframes, and mockups
  • Establish typography, color palette, and imagery
  • Refine the designs until everything gets approved.

Launching

After we’ve finalized your website and thoroughly tested it, it’s time to go live. I’ll be prepping it for launch by moving it to a pre-launch staging environment. Once your website is live, I’ll do a final performance optimization and security hardening.

  • Move the website to a pre-launch staging environment and do a final checking
  • Push the website to the live environment
  • Final performance optimization and security hardening

Website Management & Aftercare

A well-maintained website is the key to having a successful website. You may keep working with me and I will handle that part for you, or I can provide you with full instructions on how to handle website maintenance on your own as well as basic WordPress training so you can easily modify your site’s content.

  • Partner with me, and I’ll guarantee your website is up-to-date, optimized, and secure
  • Or manage your website on your own

Communication

Communication is vital for every project’s success; hence, it is important for me, and I believe it is for you as well.

Throughout the project we will have a few Video calls, but the majority of our communication will be done sequentially via email. This approach allows us to keep a written record of our conversations, reducing the possibility of misinterpretation.

From Monday through Friday, I aim to reply to all emails in at least eight business hours. As I have queries or work that requires your feedback throughout the project, you could expect frequent emails from me.

Every end of the week or project stage, whichever comes first, you will also receive a project update that includes information on the progress made that week or stage, the project’s current state, and the schedule for the following week.

For video meetings we will use Zoom, Skype, Google Meet and other possible platforms
You will be provided with weekly updates

Project Duration

Most projects are completed in 3-8 weeks, depending on several aspects such as size, scope, project complexity, your communication availability, and how quickly you can provide feedback.

Because each project has unique requirements, I will provide you with an approximate schedule estimate following our first meeting and a full timeline within a proposal if you decide to proceed with the project.

You will receive weekly updates on the project’s current status, including any changes to the timetable, for the duration of the project. This is done to keep you up to date on the current project status.

Pricing

When evaluating the cost of a project, various factors need to be considered. Project size, overall scope, project complexity, and specific deliverables are some of the aspects to consider. Each project is quoted separately to meet its specific requirements.

After our initial meeting, I can provide a rough estimate of the project cost whenever it is requested before moving on to the next phase. However, a more precise project cost can only be given within a project proposal after we have completed the thorough discovery process. With this effort, I’m hoping to deliver more accurate and fairer project pricing that takes into account all important factors for a successful project.

I understand that it is sometimes necessary to adjust the project scope or deliverables while the project is still in progress, which is why I plan for it ahead of time. When this kind of concern arises, a change request should be made and accepted before continuing with the project. Any pricing adjustments resulting from requested changes to scopes or deliverables will be discussed and agreed upon. You may rest confident that there will be no unexpected fees when you work with me.

To give you an overview of my pricing, a custom website design and development project would cost at least $2,500, and my average project fee last year was $6,925. For ongoing website management service, it comes in two tiers: $89 per month and $109 per month, depending on your needs.

$2500 - minimum website design and development cost
$6925 - my average project cost for last year
$89 to $109 - monthly website management cost
No unexpected charges

Why work with me

Do you need a web designer and WordPress developer who adheres to best practices with no compromise? Or someone who is passionate about his craft and can be relied upon even after your website is delivered? Then we might be a good fit.

Website built with adherence to quality

Performance, user experience, robustness, flexibility, and ease of use—these are my main priorities when I build your websites. Following proven standards and best practices is the most effective way to accomplish these. With me, it’s not something that I will try to provide; it’s guaranteed.

Reliability and long-term partnership

The web, like your business, is continuously evolving. To realize your full potential and grow online, you need a reliable and long-term partner, not just a web developer. That is something my clients have, even after their website has been delivered—no contract required.

Driven by craft and passion

I’ve always been enthusiastic about technology and its potential to help people, which is why I am passionate about web design and development. I find it incredibly satisfying to create digital products that achieve your business goals and ultimately, provide positive impact to the end users.

I value your business like my own

As a business owner myself, I recognize the value of my clients’ business and I work hard to deliver the highest return on their website investment. I carefully create each website with the goal of offering the same degree of value I wanted for my own business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are questions often being asked and my answers to them. If you have other questions in mind, feel free to send it to me and I’ll get back to you shortly.

  • What services do you offer exactly?

My main focus is providing Web Design and WordPress Web Development services to businesses and companies who needs a fast, effective and modern WordPress Website.

Additionally, I also provide the following services:

    • Website Management / Aftercare
    • Block Website Conversion
    • Website WordPress Migration
    • WordPress Website Speed Optimization
    • White Label Website Services
  • Do you require finalized designs when reaching out?

No. If you still don’t have a design and are starting from scratch, I’d be pleased to help you in designing and developing your website.

If you already have someone to design your website and would only require development service, I prefer to get involved early in the process to ensure a smooth workflow between design and development and to identify potential difficulties when already in the development stage.

  • Do you create a web design as well?

Yes. I can handle both web design and development, should you need a website from scratch.

  • How long does it take to build a website?

Typically, a custom website design and development project will take 3 to 8 weeks, but this may vary depending on several factors, such as:

    • Size of the website (i.e. how many pages)
    • Complexity of design and functionality
    • Speed of feedback & communication
  • What happens if I need to change the scope of our project before it’s finished?

As much as I can, I will try my best to make every aspect of the project clear and precise early on to avoid this kind of scenario — but it’s impossible to foresee every possibility for your project early in the process.

It’s not unusual for us to realize that we need to make changes to the scope or deliverables of your project after we get started — in fact, it’s likely we will!

Any and all changes to the scope or deliverables of your project will require a change request and an updated quote. I will not change the scope or price of your project without a clear discussion and agreement with you prior to carrying out the work.

Any changes to our original agreement will be documented in our agreement and your final invoice will be adjusted (either up or down) accordingly.

  • Will I be able to update my website after it’s delivered?

Yes, and it’s critical that your website is regularly updated and maintained. Failure to keep your website updated can cause severe, and in some cases, irreversible damage or loss.

At the end of each project, my clients have the option of partnering with me and subscribing to a website maintenance service. In that case, I’ll ensure that your website is always up-to-date, secure, and optimized while you focus on growing your business.

Should you prefer to self-manage your website, I’ll be providing you with an owner’s manual that will contain all the required maintenance and updates to keep your website secure and up-to-date.

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty on your work?

Yes! Included with your project is 30-days (post-delivery) of warranty and support to ensure your website is functioning properly.

Due to the nature of technology, I cannot guarantee any work past the 30-day period unless your website is under my care as part of my Website Management service, which essentially warranties your website so long as it’s under my management.

The 30-day period does not include adding any new functionality, features, or content.

  • How much does a website cost?

There are many factors that need to be considered when evaluating the cost of a website project; hence, each website project will be quoted separately to meet its specific requirements.

To give you an overview of my pricing, a custom website design and development project would cost at least $2,500, and my average project fee last year was $6,925.

All situations are different though, so please get in touch and I’ll be happy to provide you with more details.

  • What are the payment terms for a website project?

It most cases it will be 50% upfront and 50% after launch. This can be adjusted based on the project size.

  • Do you take work on a per-hour basis?

I do prefer pricing every project with a fixed fee. I work hard and do things thoroughly to achieve what is expected or exceed it, even if it requires me to put more hours into it. That said, a fixed fee could turn out to be more cost-efficient on your end.

Every situation is different though, so feel free to reach out if you want to discuss it further.
